I highly recommend Roti King if you’re new to Malaysian food or simply love bold, comforting flavours. We visited as a group of two and had a fantastic meal overall.
We ordered the roti with mutton, which was the clear highlight. The roti was beautifully flaky and soft, perfect for dipping, and the mutton curry was rich, deeply spiced, and very filling without being overwhelming. Everything tasted freshly made and full of flavour. To drink, we had teh tarik (hot), which was smooth, comforting, and nicely balanced—not overly sweet and a great complement to the meal.
Service was friendly and efficient, even though the restaurant was busy. One thing to note is that seating is quite limited and tightly packed, so the space can feel a bit claustrophobic. You also can’t book in advance, so expect to queue. That said, our wait was around 15–20 minutes, which felt very reasonable.
If you’re sensitive to spice, this may not be the best choice, but if you enjoy flavourful food with a bit of heat, it’s absolutely worth it. Overall, Roti King delivers delicious food, great value, and a genuinely satisfying experience. We’d happily go back again.
We took a chance while there wasn’t a massive queue outside. Totally worth it, even if we did have to line up.
Food was great and perfect for a cold day for sure. Delicious fluffy roti and chicken kari. We shared some chicken satay skewers too which were also delicious.
The place is small inside but the atmosphere is good and staff are friendly
Had lunch with a friend. Arrived at 12 sharp and got seated straight away. Waiter and waitress were very friendly and polite. Getting us tap water first and giving us time to browse the menu.
I had the nasi goreng and my friend had the beef rendang with rice and a roti. We share a kangkung belacan (suggestion to the owner to add more belacan for more oomph!) and some satay.
Excellent as always.
Be prepared to queue, don't worry, it is worth the wait.
Food is delicious and prepared with love. Takeaway option is available.
I had beef rendang with two roti. Meat was tender and sauce was delicious.
Venue is cramped so don't bring excess items. No space to put coat and bags as the seats are stools. You may have to share table with strangers if there is only one or two of you, as some tables are for four.
I didn't feel rushed, but the fact that there is a queue outside makes you feel a bit like you have to hurry to finish and leave.
I highly recommend this restaurant.
Absolutely love roti king. Some of the best malay fare in London.
The pratha was nice and flaky. The chicken kari with the roti canai was a solid curry, spicy and flavorful.
The nasi goreng was the perfect combination of sweet savory shrimpy with plenty of wokhei.
The teh tarik was sweet but yummy.
Will definitely go back next time I am on London.
